Safety or security

If cooling behaves unexpectedly, disable cooling and quit Coolstead first. Report security vulnerabilities and unexpected fan behavior privately; do not include exploits or sensitive diagnostics in a public issue.

Before sending a report

  1. Disable cooling and confirm the status says macOS is controlling the fans.
  2. Record the Coolstead version, macOS version, Mac model, and installation method.
  3. Copy Coolstead diagnostics and review them before sharing.
  4. Describe what happened, what you expected, and whether restarting recovered normally.

Fanless Macs and systems where the helper is unavailable should continue working in monitoring-only mode. Hardware support varies by model and macOS version.
